This training program PERFECT for the beginner OR veteran runner who wants to improve his/her 5k or 10k performance and finishing time.  It's not about your age or ability level, it's all about your goal and getting the support necessary to make that goal a reality!  So if you want to better your performance and are looking for a structured program to help, look no further than the RC Training 5k/10k program!

  • WHEN: Participants meet twice per week on Tuesday and Thursday with the coach of the program for a structured work-out
  • WHERE: The location of each workout will move to various places in Peoria/East Peoria (i.e. RC Outfitters, Springdale Cemetery, Rock Island Trail, East Peoria Trail, etc.) pending the type of workout scheduled and the location will be communicated via the coach's weekly email and RC Training 5k/10k Facebook group page

    Michael has been running for 25 years and has participated in hundreds of races, ranging from 1 mile to ultra-marathons (above 26.2 miles). The pinnacle of his running career was qualifying for The Boston Marathon on multiple occasions, although he admits the 5K is really his best and favorite distance. He has been coaching the RC 5K/10K group since its inception in early 2017.

    Michael’s coaching background started as a cross country assistant coach at Dunlap Middle School and High School for 10 years. Even today, the high school cross country team is still using the training program that Michael and Chris Friedman jointly developed. He continues to stay involved with the team by assisting Coach Friedman with analytics.

    Through personalized coaching and training plan development, Michael has also helped several runners set personal records in all distances of races, and even qualify for The Boston Marathon, which has a strict time limit cut off. Currently he is enjoying leading the 5K & 10K training program and continues to do provide private coaching, as well.
