I am a retired teacher who still coaches cross country at Tremont. What better place for a cross country coach to work than RC? I can’t believe that I get paid to hang out with all the cool running gear and talk to runners all day! But seriously the thing I like most about working at RC is the chance to help people. I live to hear the words, “Wow, this makes my feet feel so much better!” My favorite moment was helping a customer whose foot turned in severely. We put her in the right shoe and added the proper insert. That combination aligned her foot and allowed her to walk comfortably.
I have been running since I was in 7th grade. I am currently training for my 6th marathon. I have been coaching at Tremont for 35 years and am proud to be in the Peoria Sports Hall of Fame with my 1990 State Championship team.
Start Date: September 2011
Hometown: I grew up in the Chicago suburb of Elmhurst. Yes I ran for Joe Newton at York. I currently live in Tremont. However, a little piece of my heart will always be in Melbourne, Australia where my wife and I lived for 3 years.
Current shoe of choice: Love my Mizuno Wave Riders, but lately run 40% of my miles in the Brooks Connect. I’m becoming more and more hooked on the minimal foot wear.
